The Ubai (うばい) is a smoked plum that is used in traditional Chinese medicine and as aningredient in sour plum tea.
Ume is said to have the following effects:
Stomach and intestine health
Pain relief
Detoxification
Ume is used for symptoms such as loss of appetite, indigestion, stomach pain, stomachupset, and constipation. It is taken by boiling.
Sour plum tea is a drink made by boiling ume, rock sugar, and ginger in water. It is said tobe effective for heat exhaustion, colds, and loss of appetite.

Ume is effective for people with colds, but if you have a cold, excessive consumption cancause health problems.
Ume's history
Ume has been used as a medicine in China for centuries. It was introduced to Japan by theTang dynasty.
Currently, ume is only produced in Tsukigase, Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan.
